2019 Maison & Objet catalog designed for clarity and function

  • editorial

Double D designed the exhibition catalogue for '2019 Maison & Objet: Seoul Design Overseas Marketing', organized by the Seoul Design Foundation. Held in Paris, this international event showcases leading brands and designers from lifestyle and interior design sectors, with ten selected teams representing Korea.

An identity system built on symbols and grid structure
To create a distinctive identity, Double D developed a logotype system that cleverly replaced specific letters in the exhibition title with symbols related to design rights and intellectual property, such as the Registered Trademark symbol (®) and Copyright symbol (©). Additionally, the overall layout was guided by a grid motif, inspired by DDP’s visual identity, creating a rhythmic balance and dynamic visual flow across the pages.

Catalog optimized for the exhibition setting
In particular, the catalogue was produced without binding, adopting a newspaper-folding method, allowing visitors to easily fold or roll it for convenient transport. This format eliminated the need for separate leaflets, significantly simplifying production. Each of the ten participating teams was allocated one full spread, presented equally and clearly in both Korean and English, providing concise and accessible information for international buyers. Product images of all teams were placed collectively on the back cover, further enhancing visibility and impact. The catalogue stood out notably among various promotional materials at Maison & Objet, receiving great acclaim during the exhibition.
