Weverse Magazine is an online content platform where K-pop fans can access the latest K-pop news, artist interviews, and global podcasts on K-pop. It plays a key role in supporting and shaping global K-pop culture through digital interactions. With a wide range of content for the K-pop fans, their website is accessed by K-pop fans in over 245 countries, strengthening the bond between K-pop artists and their fans.
Double D partnered with the Weverse Magazine team to design a new feature on the website, ’My K-POP Scrapbook’, a microsite to share K-pop fans’ stories and perspectives on K-pop culture.
Under the three main themes, ‘K-POP’, ‘WORLD’, and ‘ME’, the website allows users to explore articles by simply swiping up and down. Smooth, touch-responsive interactions create a natural and seamless browsing experience. Tapping on article covers reveals interviews with global K-pop fans, and rewards are given on pressing the like button. A playful speech-bubble animation on the like button encourages participation.
Scrapbook-Style GUI with a Kitschy Aesthetic
The GUI design is playful and vibrant, inspired by the look and feel of a real scrapbook. With a title resembling a collage made from magazines or newspaper cutouts, colorful paper textures, and sticker assets in both 2D and 3D create a unique visual language that evokes the experience of decorating a scrapbook.
Persona Avatar That Reflects the Activity Status
In K-POP WORLD, users can set their own persona. As they engage more with the contents on the website, their avatars evolve—from a seed to a flower—symbolizing fans’ personal growth within the fandom. These avatars are designed with universal appeal so that any fans can relate, and they can be customized using items collected through intereactions.
230 AI-Generated Article Covers with Visual Consistency
To handle the vast amount of visual content, a generative AI-based image production pipeline was implemented to create all 230 article covers efficiently while ensuring visual consistency. These covers use vibrant color palettes and silhouette imageries, expressing the unspoken emotional bond that connects K-pop fans across all languages and borders.
